48th VSGA Mid-Amateur Championship

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to VSGA members who will be at least 25 years of age by September 6, 2024.
  • All participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA member club in good standing.
  • All participants must meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.

ENTRY FEE/DEADLINE

All players are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $280 by Monday, August 26, 2024.

  • Entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition.
  • The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

FIELD SIZE/TOURNAMENT MAKE-UP

  • The field will be limited to 120 players. If entries greatly exceed the maximum field size, the committee reserves the right to hold additional spots for a qualifying round. 
  • Priority acceptance is given to players ages 25 and over that were exempt into the 2024 VSGA Amateur Championship or State Open of Virginia, played in the 2024 VSGA Amateur Championship or State Open of Virginia, finished in the top 20 of last year’s Mid-Amateur Championship and all past VSGA Mid-Amateur champions.
  • In addition, at least three members from the host club are guaranteed spots in the field.
  • The remainder of field will be selected by Handicap Index as of August 26, 2024.

 

FORMAT

  • 54-hole stroke play competition (18 holes per day), with 50% of the field making the cut (minimum of 45 players) for the final round.
  • All players making the cut will be placed in an appropriate number of flights for day three, based on 36 hole scores.

 

PRIZES

  • The Champion will receive a trophy. Gift certificates will be given to the Champion, overall top finishers and top finishers in each flight (all based on 54 hole scores).
